As a member of OHADA, Congo follows the OHADA Uniform Act on Mediation adopted 23 November 2017. On 26 November 2024, two arrêtés were issued: Arrêté n° 26585 on the procedure of financial mediation in the Republic of Congo, and Arrêté n° 26586 on the procedure for designation and attributions of financial mediators. These arrêtés implement Décret n° 2024-86 of 28 February 2024 which instituted financial mediation. The duration of financial mediation is three months, renewable by two months by the mediator in case of difficulty. On 6 August 2025, the Senate authorized the ratification of the Convention on the Establishment of the International Organization for Mediation. This was enacted before the July 10, 2026 research cutoff date. The Convention was signed by Congo on 30 May 2025 in Hong Kong, China. The Convention is a mechanism established by the United Nations to promote and facilitate peaceful resolution of international disputes, aiming to develop friendly relations and cooperation between states through mediation. The Convention respects sovereignty, territorial integrity, equality, non-interference in internal affairs of states, and commitment to international rule of law.
