Mediation and arbitration in Burkina Faso follow the OHADA Uniform Act on the Law of Arbitration (revised and adopted in Conakry on 23 November 2017) as Burkina Faso is a member state of the Organisation for the Harmonization of Business Law in Africa (OHADA). Burkina Faso has a civil law system based on the French model and customary law. Recognition and enforcement of foreign arbitral awards between Burkina Faso and other OHADA member countries follows The OHADA Treaty of 17 October 1993. Burkina Faso is a contracting state to the New York Convention on the Recognition and Enforcement of Foreign Arbitral Awards. The Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Burkina Faso (CCI-BF) established the Centre d'Arbitrage, de Médiation et de Conciliation de Ouagadougou (CAMC-O) on January 11, 2005, officially launched September 24, 2007.

CAMC-O contributes to improving the legal and judicial environment in Burkina Faso by reinforcing confidence between Burkinabè economic operators and their foreign partners and by relieving congestion in state courts. The Centre offers domestic economic operators and foreign investors an appropriate framework for settling disputes while preserving the integrity of business relationships.
